Fort Collins is home to a variety of entertaining possibilities that residents enjoy everyday. But for the average visitor, packing all of the sites and attractions in a weekend is impossible. If you’re visiting Fort Collins for a few days, we recommend you pick your top few choices and plan to come back.



What to see & where to go
  • ANHUESER-BUSCH TOUR CENTER, (970) 490-4691. Offers brewery tours, learn about the Budweiser brewing process, and see the world-famous Budweiser Clydesdales.
  • AVERY HOUSE HISTORIC DISTRICT, 328 W. Mountain Avenue (near Old Town), (970) 221-0533. The home is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Built in 1879, it was the home of Franklin & Sara Avery and offers tours and is also a popular place to have an outdoor wedding.
  • CITY PARK RAILWAY, 1599 City Park Drive, (970) 416-2990. The railway is a miniature train that runs during the summer and is available for party rental.
  • COLORADO WELCOME CENTER, 3745 East Prospect Road #105, (970) 491-3388. Find out what Colorado has to offer by browsing nrochure racks, maps, and guides to help you plan your vacation. Helpful volunteers are also on hand to answer questions and provide additional information.
  • CSU ENVIRONMENTAL LEARNING CENTER, 3745 East Prospect Road #205, (970) 491-166. CSU's ELC is one of the last remaining undeveloped riparian woodlands along the Poudre River. The visitor center houses interpretive displays designed by youth rangers, but is only open by request. Trails area open daily from dawn to dusk. Guided group tours upon request.
  • DISCOVERY CENTER SCIENCE MUSEUM, 703 E. Prospect Road , (970) 472-3990. The Discovery Science Center is loaded with more than 111 incredible hands-on exhibits guaranteed to thrill your imagination and ignite your curiosity.
  • DRIVING TOUR. The Convention & Visitor’s Bureau offers maps and details for 7 popular driving tours including, the Colorado Environmental Learning Center, the Pawnee National Grasslands, the Colorado Trout Route, the Cache La Poudre River, the North Park Scenic Byway, High Country Routes, and Rocky Mountain National Park.
  • THE FARM AT LEE MARTINEZ PARK, 600 N. Sherwood Street (near Old Town), (970) 221-6665. A trip to The Farm features farm animals, museum, Silo Store, hayrides and pony rides (fee required). Ask about children's classes and programs.
  • FORT COLLINS MUNICIPAL RAILWAY, (970) 482-8246. Runs from City Park to Old Town. Car 21 has been in operation since 1985 and is the only original restored city streetcar operation in the western U.S. The car was entirely restored and operated by volunteers.
  • FORT COLLINS MUSEUM, 200 Mathews Street (near Old Town ), (970) 221-6738. Featuring regional cultural and natural history displays in two galleries and the Fort Collins Museum Local History Archive. The Heritage Courtyard houses three historic cabins and a 1905 one-room schoolhouse. Explore the Museum Store for unique local history books, music, games, toys, and gifts.
  • FORT FUN, 1513 E. Mulberry, (970) 472-8000, www.fortfun.biz. Fort Fun is the ultimate family amusement experience. Attractions include 36-holes of deluxe miniature golf, slick track and family track go-karts; bumper boats, laser tag, water games, an arcade, family restaurant. Offering group rates & birthday parties.
  • THE GARDENS AT SPRING CREEK, 2145 S. Centre Avenue, (970) 221-6881, www.fcgov.com/. The Gardens on Spring Creek includes recreational, educational, cultural and environmental opportunities. The Gardens are located on an attractive 18 acre site about ½ mile south of the University Park Holiday Inn. A prominent feature is an attractive building that initially includes a production greenhouse, a classroom, an entry/display area, offices, and restrooms. A future phase will add a conservatory (for an indoor display garden), a meeting room, and a teaching kitchen. The grounds will eventually include numerous ornamental/theme gardens, extensive fruit and vegetable gardens, and a formal lawn area for social gatherings. The beauty of the site will be enhanced with many refined architectural elements, such as walled gardens, vine-draped arbors, and trellised walkways.
  • GRANDVIEW CEMETARY, 1900 W. Mountain Avenue (Taft Hill & Laporte Ave), (970) 221-6810, www.fcgov.com. One of most beautiful, historical cemeteries in the area featuring the graves of Fort Collins founders. Maps are available at the Visitor Information Center and the City Parks Office.
  • THE GREAT STUPA AT SHAMBHALA MOUNTAIN CENTER, 4921 County Rd. 68-C, Red Feather Lakes, CO 80545, (888) STUPA-21, www.shambhalamountain.org. Praised by the New York Times, NPR and BBC, The Great Stupa is the most spectacular example of Buddhist sacred architecture outside Asia. Filled with sacred art, the 108-foot-tall Stupa showcases Tibet's cultural heritage and is the jewel of RMSC's 600-acre campus. Also enjoy hiking, yoga, bodywork, meditation, gift store, good meals and comfortable lodgings.
  • LARIMER COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS & EVENTS COMPLEX: The Ranch, (970) 498-7000, www.larimer.org. The 243-acre campus is the home of the Colorado Eagles, Larimer County Fair and many other events. Tradeshow space, large event catering, concerts and the like are hosted by this new complex.
  • THE LINCOLN CENTER, 417 W. Magnolia St., (970) 221-6730, www.lctix.com. Performing arts center; diverse professional theatre, dance, music, visual arts and children's programs.
  • OBSERVATORY VILLAGE, 3733 Galileo Drive, (970) 226-1560, www.observatoryvillage.com. As one of the top observatories, Stargazer Observatory features a 14-inch, Celestron C-14 telescope and Bisque Paramont ME Mounting System. Stargazer Observatory is also used for college courses offered through Front Range Community College.
  • ROCKY MOUNTAIN RAPTOR CENTER and CSU Vet School Raptor Center, RM Raptor Center: 1 mile east of Timberline on Drake Road, CSU Vet School: 300 W. Drake Road, (970) 297-0398 or (970) 297-4000, www.rmrp.org. A community effort for rehabilitation and release for injured birds of prey that promotes the value of raptors, wildlife, conservation and environmental awareness.
  • SWETSVILLE ZOO, 4801 E. Harmony Road (1/4 mile east of I-25 on Harmony). Visit this world-famous metal sculpture park containing over 150 creations.
  • WHITEWATER RAFTING with Mountain Whitewater Descents, 1329 N. US Hwy. #287, (970) 419-0917, www.mountainwhitewaterdescents.com. Mountain Whitewater Descents offers rafting adventures on the Cache La Poudre River near Estes Park Colorado. Mountain Whitewater Descents is proud to have a special use permit from the Roosevelt National Forest. The guidelines keep river use low so that the Poudre delivers an exceptional wilderness rafting experience. Check out the Poudre page to find out how special Colordo's only "Wild and Scenic" river really is. Coloradoans consider it the best canyon and river in Colorado. Come rafting and you'll agree.
